Matfen Hall

Following the tremendous success of February 2009's RSP Winter School, the RSP organised another residential event for the Autumn term. Taking place at Matfen Hall in beautiful rural Northumberland, participants also made use of unique opportunities to network with peers.

The course to provided a forum in which repository staff could keep up to date with the latest developments in a a wide range of fields related to their work. Sessions combined presentations with workshops, and had a strong practical element so that repository professionals could learn from the experiences of others and share best practice.

Participants came to this event prepared to participate as there was plenty of opportunity for groupwork and to share ideas. Experts were on hand to answer queries and to help participants to develop helpful strategies which they were be able to apply to their work when they returned to the office. There as also be plenty of opportunity to network both during the sessions and in a social environment in the evenings.

Matfen Hall is located in the beautiful Northumberland countryside around 18 miles west of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, not far from the towns of Corbridge and Hexham. The venue is well equipped, and has both a spa and a golf course.
